Delete your Castiel account
Last updated: 19 October 2026
How to delete your account in Castiel, the "Prayer Bell & Bible" app by Kevin Baur, and all data stored with it.
You only need an account for the community. If you use Castiel without an account, your data stays on your device only; deleting the app removes it.
In the app
- Open Castiel and tap the gear icon at the top ("Settings").
- At the top, under "Account", tap your name ("Edit profile and account").
- Tap "Delete account".
- Enter your password and tap "Delete account permanently". If you signed in with Apple or Google, tap "Confirm with Apple and delete" or "Confirm with Google and delete".
Your account is deleted immediately.
Without the app
Email castiel@kevin-baur.com from your account's email address with the subject "Delete account". I will delete the account within 30 days and confirm it by email. So that nobody can have someone else's account deleted, I only act on requests sent from the account's address.
What is deleted
- your account with email address, display name, personal intention, profile picture and the check values of your password and recovery code
- all prayers and lights you sent, the lights you received, and thank-you notes
- friendships, friend requests, blocks and the names you privately gave your contacts
- your group memberships. Groups you founded pass to the next member; without other members they are deleted.
- invitations that went through you, push tokens and stored access, including the widget's
- reports you submitted or that concern your account
What is kept
- Checksum of rewarded installations: If your device received an invitation bonus, a one-way checksum of the installation is kept so the same bonus cannot be obtained twice. It contains no name or contact details and can no longer be linked to you.
- Technical backups: Operational backups of the database provider may briefly still contain deleted data until they are overwritten in the regular cycle. They are not restored.
- Purchases: Castiel Pro and subscriptions run through Apple or Google and stay there. You cancel a subscription in the subscription settings of your Apple or Google account; deleting your account does not cancel it. Your purchase status at RevenueCat is kept so that restoring purchases keeps working.
- Data on your device: prayer history, alarms and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app or remove the app.
